Let me start by saying this: There weren't many standouts earlier this year for rock and metal. It's a tough pill to swallow, but it's true. You can curse me out and tell me I know nothing about music; it is what it is.

In my humble opinion, I genuinely feel Jack White was snubbed. "Fear of the Dawn" was an insanely good album, with layers upon layers of distortion and creativity. I also feel Parkway Drive's "Darker Still" album was snubbed. Songs like "Ground Zero" or "Glitch" could've been a fair contender for Best Metal Performance. But, in digging into what's in front of us, I do believe there are deserving works.

The best Rock Performance, I believe, should go to the Black Keys. "Wild Child" is an incredible song with bluesy notes and a catchy melody. I wouldn't be surprised if Brandi Carlile gets it; Brandi has been an unstoppable trailblazer in the music industry.

Best Metal Performance: If you guessed, I would say Ghost; you're 100% correct. Call Me Little Sunshine has to be one of the best songs in rock and metal to come out in 2022. I'm actually surprised "Impera" wasn't up for best album; it is for the AMA awards. 2022 has been a huge commercial year for Ghost. Impera has done exceptionally well on the charts and airwaves, TikTok has helped many types of music fans to discover Ghost, and the ImperaTour was widely successful. Love em or Hate em, Ghost is gaining popularity here in the US. I wouldn't be surprised if Muse gets it. The rock-turned-metal band has equally been gaining traction with their latest effort.

Best Rock Song: I think this is a 50/50 toss-up between the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Brandi Carlile. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Best Rock Album: I would like to see the Black Keys take this one, but I have a sick part of the stomach thinking voters may give it to Machine Gun Kelly. I think he's a talentless hack, but the mainstream feels differently. It's going to depend on how each voter votes.

What do you guys think? Let me know! Grammy's will be live on Feb. 5th, 2023, on CBS
